Introduction to a Family Girl

Hello everyone! My name is Taylor Vu. I am twenty years old and I am a junior. I am majoring in HES (health and exercise science), and I hope to later apply to nursing school. With a nursing degree, I would love to be able to work with kids in a pediatrics office. I grew up with a lot of younger cousins so I have always found a passion in spending time with kids. In my free time, you would find me spending time with my amazing family and in July 2014, I took home the newest addition. My boyfriend and I got a puppy! His name is Caesar and he is basically my child.

When I'm in Norman, I work as a nanny for two kids. Parker just turned four years old and Chloe just turned one. Other than that, I just really enjoy spending time with friends and family. A typical hangout with me involves lots of pizza and lots of movies. I'm a huge fan of any and all movies, so I never have trouble finding something to watch. I also love to travel. Though I do think Oklahoma has grown a lot lately and has gotten a lot better in terms of having fun things to do, I love going to different cities to see what the rest of the world has to offer. I actually just got back from an amazing trip to Chicago, so it's definitely pretty tough getting back into the swing of things here at school. Outside of the United States, I have also been to Mexico, Canada, and Vietnam. My parents are from Vietnam, so being able to visit the place they were born and raised was an amazing experience. I definitely plan to go back to Vietnam at some point in my future. In conclusion, I'm just your average girl. I spend my week days working and going to school, and spend my free time just hanging out with my loved ones.

  1. Your Caesar looks like such a fun dog, Taylor! And maybe you will find some stories in this class that you will want to tell to Parker... entertaining a four-year-old is not easy, and if you can come up with stories that would hold his attention, that would mean they are good stories for sure. I don't know if you have done the Storybook favorites post yet or not, but if not, there is a fabulous Vietnamese project that someone did... it's one of my all-time favorites, very dramatic and mysterious. Here it is: Living in the Past: Tales of Ancient Vietnam. Maybe you will want to explore a Vietnamese topic for this class! This book could be a good source; it is free online at Google Books: folktales from Vietnam
